Hang-ups About
Making Money Kill Inventions
That is not to say that many inventors are not primarily motivated by their desire to help people, and improve the world at large with their invention, because that is indisputably so. However, it is to say that many people who are so inclined can often have irrational hang-ups and baggage about the business world and making money.
Unfortunately, it is often this resistance to commerce that kills the very chances an invention might otherwise have to change the world for the better. Those who have issues or feel guilty about money must remember that the unique entrepreneurial spirit of the American inventor is a national pride, not something to be apologetic about!
There is absolutely nothing inherently evil or wrong with an inventor making money from profitable sales of their own creative labor. It is the purest form of free enterprise.
Accepting of the fact that the best way to help people solve their problems using your new product or invention is to sell as many of them as possible, sales will be the barometer by which your idea will be deemed a success or failure.
So, if you have hang-ups about making money, get over them. You owe it to the people you serve with your invention not to sabotage your own success before they ever get a chance to benefit from it!
